Personality Walk_Refining
Im begining to take my animation out of blocking and starting to smooth it out. My mentor gave me alot of great tips on my blocking to help give the walk more weight. This seems to be the hardest part of character animation so far...to make the animation smooth but not floaty. I have just began refining, here's where Im at.

Character Design; ChubbyNerd
Im still trying to keep up on modeling, and designing, while Im studying animation. Here's a character design I've been working on; He doesnt have a name yet, but he's a timid chubby guy..the type of character that thinks about the "cool thing to say," but never conjures up enough courage to actually say it, ha. Generally I like his shape right now...I wanted him to have short stalky legs, but perhaps they are too short right now.

Walk Cycle- FINAL
Here's my final walk cycle that I'm turning in this week. I was suprised how difficult animating a normal walk is; My teachers told us to think about it as "A series of calculated falls." Kind of true..before you stick your foot out catch your next step, all of your momentum is fallling toward the ground. As simple as a walk seems to be, its extremely hard to animate; Animators say that what makes it difficult is the fact that everybody knows how a walk is supposed to look...so when any detail is left out, it becomes noticable. Here's my attempt

Squirrel overlap animation
Heres my finished animation of "Tailor." The goal of this assignment was to practice overlapping action with the tail, alongside squash and stretch in the body. I also practiced showing anticipation to reveal character. Its interesting how rythym and timing alone can help define character in animation...here's my attempt.

AnimationMentor Assignments. Week 3-4
I just started Animation Mentor and it's been a great experience so far. Right now I'm learning the basics of timing and spacing; These are important concepts for expressing weight and life in any animation.
